What Can I Expect from Full Mouth Replacement?

When you visit us for your consultation, we will examine your mouth and talk to you about your goals and expectations. Then, we’ll talk to you about your tooth replacement options, the pros and cons of each, and the cost of full mouth replacement process.

If you decide to restore your smile with dental implants, your treatment process may involve a number of steps, including:

  • Preliminary work, such as extractions or a bone graft
  • The implant placement surgery
  • Design and placement of the teeth that will go on top of your implants

Implant-Retained Dentures

If you choose standard implant-retained dentures, we will place a number of implants throughout your jawbone. Then, we’ll close the gums over the implants. After that, we will wait a few months while the implants fuse to the tissue around them in a process known as osseointegration. When your mouth is ready, we’ll attach abutments to the implants, which will connect the implants to your new teeth.

The denture that we attach to the implants may be removable, with the ability to simply “snap” onto the implants. Or, you may opt for an implant-retained denture that is permanently affixed to the implants.

All-on-4 Dental Implants

All-on-4 is a special dental implant treatment, wherein we can replace an entire arch of teeth with as few as four dental implants placed at precise locations throughout the jawbone. Immediately after the implants are in place, we provide a temporary denture; the All-on-4 process is sometimes called the Teeth in a Day procedure. After the implants have had time to bond with your body, we will replace the temporary denture with a permanent one.

Am I a Candidate for Full Mouth Replacement?

You may be a candidate for full mouth replacement via dental implants if:

  • You are currently free of gum disease
  • You are in fair overall health (you should be free of any conditions that would hinder your ability to heal after surgery)
  • You have adequate jawbone height and density to support dental implants

The only way to find out for sure if you are a candidate for full mouth replacement is to visit us for a consultation. Even if you are not currently able to receive dental implants, we may be able to design a treatment plan that allows you to get them in the future.
